The Studio Sams Story

I’m a fine furniture maker with a background in design and storytelling. Before turning to woodworking, I worked as a Creative Director — crafting brand narratives and visual experiences. That career sharpened my eye for detail, composition, and the emotional power of design, all of which now shape how I approach each piece of bespoke furniture I create.

Trained at the renowned Chippendale International School of Furniture where I won Designer of the Year, I learned to marry time-honoured techniques with contemporary sensibilities. My studio practice in East Lothian centres on balancing tradition with innovation, crafting bespoke, heirloom-quality pieces tailored to individual clients. Every item is designed, built, and finished by hand in my workshop — with a strong emphasis on clean lines, material integrity, and thoughtful proportions.
